STORYTELLING

A-Doc has utilized its resources and network to support its Storytelling Initiatives, beginning in 2020 with the microdocs series Asian American Stories in the Time of Coronavirus, and continuing with our Resilience themed microdocs series in 2021 and Resilience shorts series in 2022 co-produced with GBH and CAAM.

Each series was positioned in recognition that Asian American non-fiction storytellers have a unique perspective on issues facing the nation, yet our stories have remained largely invisible. By leaning into our strengths as documentarians of the Asian diaspora, A-Doc called for AAPI storytellers to record perspectives to disrupt mainstream narratives about our communities.

Our 2024 microdocs series Our Stories, Our Voices, emphasized hyperlocal governance, grassroots activism and participation, community movements, creative approaches to civic engagement, and elder and emerging voices in AANHPI communities across the United States.
